About Juliet James

“Would you have had the courage to be a Mail Order Bride?”

I have often wondered this myself and often wish I could step back in time.
This desire has inspired me to write the Come-By-Chance series.

If you remember the golden age of TV, and loved those wonderful shows such as Little House on the Prairie, this is the heartwarming, feel-good series for you!

Get to know the lovable townsfolk of Come-By-Chance as the town grows during the year of 1884. There’ll be handsome cowboys, nervous brides, a man who’s a champion gossip, a woman who’s a champion fighter, some really good horses, some really bad weather, deeds of good and evil, a mighty big fire, one exciting horse race, a romantic handmade four-poster bed, more than one mistaken identity, no shortage of weddings, at least one villain who’ll finally get his comeuppance – and the birth of a very special baby.
In the midst of all this True Love and True Adventure, don’t be surprised to find that, somewhere along the journey, you fall in love with the good people of Come-By-Chance for yourself!

In this much-loved series (over 100,000 copies sold) strong women risk everything to rise above their desperate circumstances, find true love, and wed real men who’ll treat them right.
The Come-By-Chance Mail Order Bride series has now received over 500 5-star reviews on Amazon. Thanks to you, all you wonderful readers. Thank you.

They say “Word of Mouth is an Author’s Best Friend.” Well that … and her cat, her cup of Earl Grey Tea, chocolate icecream, florentines, gnocchi, pink dahlias { I could go on}. So … if you have enjoyed reading my books, please consider telling your friends or posting a short review.

Best wishes,

    • Why thank you! I’m so glad they’ve kept your interest.
The town of Come-By-Chance expands with every book — and for me, the townsfolk have come to life. I suppose, the brides are like new friends and the regulars such as — Wally Davis, the Wilkinson brothers and Joseph & Mary Bean are like old friends.
I hope you continue to find pleasure in the series.
      Happy reading & best wishes,

  1. I just finished #2 Emily in the series and will probably end up reading ALL of them. I’m 70 years old this year, a Vietnam vet and currently addicted to Western romances. Anyone who tells me reading romances is for sissy-fied men is liable to get knocked in their fanny. I don’t see Lettie anywhere in this anthology and I am breathlessly anticipating further developments between her and Ben!

    • Thanks Jeffrey! There have been two men in my life, very much like yourself, who were a big part of the inspiration for this series and several of its characters. I hope you do keep reading, as I think the stories get better as they go, and that seems to be what most of the readers think too.
As for Lettie, I can only say that big things are in store for her. I think you’ll enjoy her part in all the books ahead, and Ben’s too — and that, at some point to come, both will marry their true love.
I hope you’ll stop by and let me know what you think of some of the later books. Happy reading, Juliet.

  2. I just finished reading Opal, and wanted to tell you how much I have enjoyed the whole series. I have never really read any romance novels before, but picked “Ruby” up on a whim and have raced through all the others since. I hope that there will be more! Thank you for for these fun books!

    • Hi Amanda! Thanks so much for stopping by, and for your kind words.
Sometimes those things we do on a whim turn out for the best, don’t they?
There will definitely be more books about the people of Come By Chance — they feel like family now, and while ever people want to read them I’m sure there’ll be plenty of stories to be told about the townsfolk.
Hopefully the wait won’t be quite so long for the next book!
By the way, if you haven’t yet read the stories I wrote with my daughter Tara Sharp, you might enjoy those too — don’t tell Tara, but I suspect she’s a better writer than I am already…

    • Hi Joy, thank for so much for letting me know about the problem. I am so sorry that happened to you.
I will contact B&N immediately and let them know.
I will email you shortly and send you copies of Kate and the following book, Rose.
      Best wishes, Juliet

  3. I love your books, and can not wait for Emmy-Lou. You have kept me entertained this past few weeks, and I will be a faithful reader from now on. Thank you for this wonderful series…..
