About Juliet James

About Ms James:
Juliet James is the author of the much-loved Come-By-Chance Historical Western Romance Series. She writes feel-good Westerns that are easy reading, enjoyable, uplifting and fun. Sure, bad things happen – but in the end, the good guys always win, the bad guys get what’s coming to them, and the deserving find true love. Maybe that’s why her stories are loved by the old, the young, and men & women alike.

Inspiration:
TV shows such as Little House on the Prairie, Bonanza, Kung Fu, Godless, Deadwood & The Beverly Hillbillies.
Films such as Shane, the Spaghetti Westerns, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers & The Frisco Kid {starring a VERY young Harrison Ford as the cowboy and Gene Wilder as the Rabbi}

How would I describe The Come-By-Chance series?
Adventure filled stories of tough cowboys and quick-witted brides – a man who’s a champion gossip, a woman who’s a champion fighter – some really good horses, some really bad weather – deeds of good and evil, a mighty big fire – one exciting horse race, and a romantic hand-carved bed.
A series with mistaken identities, no shortage of weddings, and plenty of villains who’ll finally get their comeuppance.
This much-loved series (over 100,000 copies sold) strong men and women risk everything to rise above dangerous, desperate circumstances, and in the end find true love.

    • Why thank you! I’m so glad they’ve kept your interest.
The town of Come-By-Chance expands with every book — and for me, the townsfolk have come to life. I suppose, the brides are like new friends and the regulars such as — Wally Davis, the Wilkinson brothers and Joseph & Mary Bean are like old friends.
I hope you continue to find pleasure in the series.
      Happy reading & best wishes,
      Juliet

  1. I just finished #2 Emily in the series and will probably end up reading ALL of them. I’m 70 years old this year, a Vietnam vet and currently addicted to Western romances. Anyone who tells me reading romances is for sissy-fied men is liable to get knocked in their fanny. I don’t see Lettie anywhere in this anthology and I am breathlessly anticipating further developments between her and Ben!

    • Thanks Jeffrey! There have been two men in my life, very much like yourself, who were a big part of the inspiration for this series and several of its characters. I hope you do keep reading, as I think the stories get better as they go, and that seems to be what most of the readers think too.
As for Lettie, I can only say that big things are in store for her. I think you’ll enjoy her part in all the books ahead, and Ben’s too — and that, at some point to come, both will marry their true love.
I hope you’ll stop by and let me know what you think of some of the later books. Happy reading, Juliet.

  2. I just finished reading Opal, and wanted to tell you how much I have enjoyed the whole series. I have never really read any romance novels before, but picked “Ruby” up on a whim and have raced through all the others since. I hope that there will be more! Thank you for for these fun books!

    • Hi Amanda! Thanks so much for stopping by, and for your kind words.
Sometimes those things we do on a whim turn out for the best, don’t they?
There will definitely be more books about the people of Come By Chance — they feel like family now, and while ever people want to read them I’m sure there’ll be plenty of stories to be told about the townsfolk.
Hopefully the wait won’t be quite so long for the next book!
By the way, if you haven’t yet read the stories I wrote with my daughter Tara Sharp, you might enjoy those too — don’t tell Tara, but I suspect she’s a better writer than I am already…
