  1. Thank you Linda … I’m flattered to know I’m one of your favorites!
I really love the idea that my books are being read in print and that are being shared and enjoyed with your family and friends.
You’re right about Kate – even us older women can have adventures, make new friends and even, maybe find our Tom, Wally or Harry!
Rose and Emmy–Lou have finally been uploaded in paperback format too and should be available after tomorrow from Amazon.
    Happy reading & best wishes
    Juliet

  2. The first book I read that you had written was Come By Chance Mail Order Brides: Ruby. It was well written, fast moving and just so enjoyable. Today I finished reading Kate in that series. It was so refreshing to read a book about an older woman such as myself, instead of a sweet young thing.
I really enjoyed the characters as you managed to bring them alive in your writing. Emily will be coming in the mail any day now and I am looking forward to reading it also. By the way, your books go from my house to first, one of my daughter’s then the other’s house and then from there to friends.
I will definitely be buying more of your books in the future. Your name is in my favorite’s list.
    Sincerely, Linda

    • Hi Jodie!
      Thanks for stopping by.
I’m so sorry Opal’s taken so long, but the great news is, I’m in the editing stage now, and it should be ready to send to the proofreader tomorrow or the next day. Exciting! So it shouldn’t be much more than a week from now until Opal’s available.
As soon as it’s ready, I’ll do a blog post here, AND also notify everyone who’s signed up to the mailing list.
In the meantime, have you read How Sweet the Sound, which I co-wrote with my daughter, Tara?
We really enjoyed writing it together, and hopefully there will be many more to come — including a second story sooner than you might think…
      Best wishes,
      Juliet

    • Hi Hilary,
      Thanks for stopping by!
I’m so happy you are enjoying the series. Opal is coming along slowly, and will hopefully (fingers & toes crossed) be out by mid-June.
      I will keep on writing!
      Happy reading & best wishes,

  4. Hi Ruth, thank you! Readers like you make writing these stories so much more rewarding. I hope when you say you have read all 5 of the books, you may have meant 6?
Book 7 – Opal will be released at the end of April and, of course, if you sign up to my mailing list I will notify you when it is available.
I’m really glad you used the word “community” — my series motto “true love & true adventure” may need “true community” added to it too!
    Best wishes, Juliet

  5. I love love love the series. I read all 5 of the books this past weekend. They we all awesome. I am looking forward to Opal and need to keep reminding myself it is only near the beginning of the month. I keep going to her website to see if it had been released yet. I look forward to seeing what the community of come by chance ends up being. Like who will be the Sherriff, or the Mayor and so on.

  6. Hi Doris, I’m glad you enjoyed Ruby, and hope you like all the other books too.
I think we might have a lot in common — once I’m reading something I love, unimportant things like eating and shopping and being sociable can wait. Luckily, I love writing just as much as I love reading, or I’d never get the books finished!
Thanks for dropping by, and I hope you’ll come back and let me know which book you liked the best.
    Happy reading, Juliet.

Won’t be long before Emmy Lou is available too. I promised a February release but forgot February is only 28 days long!

  9. I have read the first 5 books this weekend and can’t wait to read about the ditzy blonde Emmy Lou. The only problem I have with your books is they are too short! Anything that good and funny needs to be longer. You know…savoured like a good juicy steak. Really I enjoy the humor you add to the stories of these youngwomen of the west.

    • Hi Delores, I’ll take that as a compliment … thank you! In my defence, my lovely readers read too fast ; )).
Juicy steak? It seems Toby Wilkinson and you have that in common. Ditzy Emmy Lou is not far away, and she has her Aunt Beryl and father in tow too.
Thanks again for stopping by, best wishes, Juliet.

      • Well, maybe it´s not that your readers read too fast, but that you write too slow, haha. Can´t wait for Emmy Lou, I really liked what we have seen of her character so far, I am sure her book is going to be the best one yet!

  15. I have really enjoyed your books so far. I can´t wait for the next one. I really like that the characters are flawed, real people and face problems and hardships instead of everything being sweetness and light. Just one complaint!! You don´t write fast enough, haha

  16. Loved the 1st 3 books were great. Downloaded Kate today to read from Barnes and Noble it is missing a page about every 5 pages so you do not really know what is going on during a blank page.

    • Hi Bet! Thanks for stopping by.
Are Ben and Lettie going to be a couple? Well, I won’t give away any spoilers but I can let you know they BOTH end up with their TRUE-LOVE.
And that will definitely NOT be the end of the series … Happy reading, Juliet.

  18. I have just finished reading all your books to date, I read them this past week and can hardly wait for Emmy Lou to come out. They’re great, I have totally enjoyed every one of them. I just loved how Kate and her friend got revenge on Mr Murphy, I had such a great laugh with that. I have enjoyed guessing who each bride was going to be for and I just knew Henry wouldn’t walk away from Rose and was very happy when Rose went to help him unload his wagon. I hope there are many more brides and adventures to come. Thank you for these books.

    • Hi Glenda, Thanks for your enthusiasm for the Come-By-Chance gals … it’s my pleasure! And yes, Kate and George’s revenge on Mr Murphy always makes me smile too. The next book Emmy-Lou will be full of fun … as one reviewer aptly said of Book 2 — “Emmy-Lou is a ditz”.
      Best wishes, Juliet.

  19. I am enjoying your books and in the past day and a half I read all the books from Ruby to Rose except for Kate. I can’t seem to open Kate, getting a message that a license cannot be found. I find each book well written and well thought out and love the unfolding of the characters, getting to know them. I am looking forward to Emmy Lou, (and to reading Kate should I be able to open up the book).

    • Thanks Martha! The wonderful thing about all this is that I now have three lovely communities in my life instead of one — I have the community I live in, of course, with my usual family and friends. But now I have the whole Come-By-Chance community, who I love spending time with each day. And last but not least, all you lovely readers to share it with — every comment on this webpage and every lovely review is an absolute thrill, and hearing from each of you has made my life so much nicer. Thank you.

  22. Juliet….once the holidays were cleaned up and stored away I started looking for a good book to cozy up with and found your series. Ruby hooked me right right away! just finished Rose and am ready for that silly Emmy Lou. I’m so glad to know that Wally and Kate will be strong influences in the continuing stories. Love their relationship of respectful bickering. I wonder if you keep a Thesaurus under your pillow and the words flow thru in your sleep! I’ve never used my dictionary so often! You’ve got the dialect of the old west down so well! Great job! Can’t wait for Emmy Lou!
    G’day …. Bonnie

    • Thanks Bonnie! What a lovely way of describing Kate and Wally’s relationship — respectful bickering. That’s wonderful, and exactly right. I’d better not say who it reminds me of, but just between us, I think you can guess.
I must admit, though, our dear Kate had me on my toes too, and I had to become good friends with the thesaurus just to keep up with her! But I like the idea of sleeping with it under the pillow even better…
Thank you so much for your kind words, and I hope Emmy-Lou will prove to be as much fun as Kate and Wally.
And G’day right back at you 😉

  23. I have enjoyed your whole series and am now looking forward to Emmy Lou. I don’t know if I would have had the courage that these women and the women of those times had. I’m not sure they all ended up with wonderful husbands like these. But, it makes a better story to have the men handsome and the women very pretty. Joanne

    • HI Joanne, I’m so glad you are enjoying the series. I really enjoying writing them too. I have a strong suspicion that the folk of Come-By-Chance aren’t as handsome/pretty as their beloved imagine them to be! As the saying goes — beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Best wishes and thanks for visiting, Juliet x.

  24. What a beautiful series! I read the first four books over the last two days. I am eagerly awaiting Rose’s arrival and am quite curious to hear what Emmy Lou is up to as well. Thank you for moving me to Come-by-Chance for the weekend! There are so many things I want to say AND ask but will refrain from spoiler alerts and wait. I could picture them taking the train past my home as i am just north of Pittsburgh, PA.

  25. Loved Ruby’s and Lettie’s characters! I’m curious about your use of the name Drinkwater. It’s an uncommon name that I’ve only known one family to have. Would I have had the courage to be a mail order bride? I guess it would depend on how I would have been shaped by events at that time. I did look at going to Australia when I graduated from high school for the single men there but certainly was too independent to consider a mail order bride situation.
I’m looking forward to the rest of your books, Laurel

    Liked by 2 people

    • Thanks Laurel! I’m so happy you liked Ruby and Lettie, they play a part in all the future books too! I thought the name Drinkwater had a solid dependable ring to it ~ a perfect name for someone like Slim Jim to use, so that people would trust him. Australia is a great place and even though you may not be looking, I hear there are plenty of single men in Western Australia and most mining towns. Hope you enjoy the rest of the series. Best wishes Juliet x.

    • Thanks so much Barbara. My pleasure! Yes, the series is continuing as I had so much fun writing these first three books, and other brides’ (and grooms’) stories were insisting upon being told. Some are old friends and some are new – so, coming soon will be the stories of Kate, Rose and Emmy-Lou. I hope you’ll enjoy them as much as the first three!
